Rocky Mountain Snowmobile Expo Is Cancelled

Another one of the big fall snowmobiling events – this one being the fastest growing indoor snow show in the West – has been cancelled.

The Rocky Mountain Snowmobile Expo – originally scheduled for October 9-10, 2020, at the National Western Complex in Denver, Colorado – was formally cancelled today, July 30. Like so many other events, it was deemed impossible to conduct due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting restrictions on crowd size, social distancing, etc.

Featuring a huge indoor expo center, informative seminars, autograph sessions, a large outdoor swap meet and much more, the Expo has been the unofficial kickoff to winter for many mountain riders for decades. It is owned and operated by EPG Media – parent company of Snow Goer – with partnership assistance of the Colorado Snowmobile Association, which is celebrating its 50th year.

Much like with the Expo’s sister event – the Big East Powersports Show in New York which was cancelled last week – the Snow Goer/EPG staff tried every effort to make the show happen this year, but in the end the restrictions brought on by the virus were too much to overcome.

“Our team held numerous meetings with local and regional officials, monitored state and local laws and restrictions and tried to imagine the show in multiple different ways,” said John Prusak, VP/Snow for EPG Media. “After exhaustive research, though, we realized there was no path forward to hold the sort of crowd-attracting, energetic and exciting event that the Rocky Mountain Snowmobile Expo has become.”

The dates have already been selected for next year’s show, however – October 7-8, 2020.

“We and our partners at the Colorado Snowmobile Association were disappointed to have to make this cancellation, but know that we are dedicated to this event,” Prusak said. “It’s always been a great fall kickoff to snowmobiling season in the Rockies, and we are already looking forward to next year’s show!”
