Backcountry Rider Preston Turk’s Extreme Machine

Again this year at the Rocky Mountain Snowmobile Expo, Snow Goer magazine will celebrate the tricked-out backcountry carvers and hillclimbers with its Rocky Mountain Extreme Machines display. Riders willing to bring their sled to the October show can apply, and the snowmobiles chosen will be not only being fashionably displayed, they’ll also be featured in the pages of Snow Goer magazine. Here is one Extreme Machine that was displayed at the 2013 Rocky Mountain Snowmobile Expo.

Rocky Mountain Snowmobile ExpoStarted Life As: 2013 Polaris 800 Pro-RMK 155 LE

Owner: Preston Turk, 38

Hometown: Delta, Colorado

Preston Turk has been riding snowmobiles since he was 9 years old — always in the mountains with deep powder, big hillclimbs and thick forests. His skills improved as snowmobile technology advanced, so Preston wanted more than what a stock snowmobile could provide. He turned to the services of Vohk, the performance branch of Alpine Motor Sports in Kremmling, Colorado, to build this sled that he says is powerful, lightweight, nimble and reliable. “I ride with a lot of competitive guys, and I don’t like to be beat,” he said.
