A PRESS RELEASE from daSilva Racing

daSilva Racing adds new riders, gears up for exciting 2014-15 season in East Coast Snocross

HAMPSTEAD, N.H. (Sept. 25, 2014) – With the first frost already recorded across much of northern New England, one of the Granite State’s top snowmobile snocross teams is gearing up for a busy and competitive winter.

daSilva Racing Team Transporter      New Hampshire-based daSilva Racing competes on the East Coast Snocross (ECS) series, presented by AMSOIL and Woody’s traction products. The team will enter the 2014-15 season with a trio of experienced riders; led by veteran Jake daSilva, who begins his second season in the Pro class.

Jake will be joined by veterans Michael George and Wade Acker, both with years of experience in snocross. George, of Pine Plains, New York, will compete alongside daSilva as a Pro in ECS, and both riders will run select ISOC races in the Pro Lite class. Acker, of Bristol, Vermont, will compete in the Pro Lite class at all ECS events, and will race in the Sport class when the team runs an ISOC event.

“I think we’re poised to have a strong 2014-15 season,” daSilva said. “I really didn’t know what to expect when I stepped up to Pro last winter. Nobody wastes any time there; they’re aggressive every  lap and they race to win. It took me a while to adapt, but I learned a ton as the season progressed. I’ve been training hard all summer, even working with ISOC Pro Jake Scott, which has really helped.

“With the improvements Ski-doo has made to their 2015 race sled and the talent we have on our team, we’re hoping for solid results on the track. I know Michael and Wade are both fast riders; we’re thrilled to have them on board. We’ve stepped up to a 53-foot NASCAR-style trailer, which will provide ample room to maintain our sleds. I’m more excited about this upcoming season than I’ve ever been.”

Last winter, Michael George raced on the ISOC circuit as an independent on a different brand of sled. This year, he’s back on a Ski-doo, the brand that put him on most folk’s radar in the first place. Like his teammate Jake, Michael came up through the ranks in the old Rock Maple Racing (RMR) series. His controlled aggression has inspired many, and this could be the opportunity of a lifetime.

“I’ve known the daSilva family for years, and we’ve talked about doing something together,” George said. “They run a first-class operation, and I had most of my Semi-Pro success back in the day on a Ski-doo. I’m excited about this great opportunity and plan to make the most of it. This will be my 14th season in snocross, and could be the best yet. I’m anxious to get our new sleds and hit the snow.”

Improvements to the 2015 Ski-doo MXZ 600RS come from a lighter crankshaft (by a full pound) that allows the engine to build RPM faster, and calibration changes in the ignition and fuel mapping for a stronger midrange pull. New software programs and Open Mod engine development have also yielded better consistency in different humidity and temperature environments.

Working in conjunction with the engine changes will be a new track design that incorporates a new pattern for better acceleration. Testing showed the new track to provide between a half and one full sled-length advantage at 60 feet. All three riders at daSilva Racing are excited to get this new machine.

2015-Ski-Doo-MX-Zx-600RS     Team owner Paul daSilva and the entire squad would like to thank the following partners for their highly-valued support: Ski-doo, daSilva Motorsports;  Spectro Performance Oils; MB Tractor & Equipment; Scott Optics; C&A Pro Skis; GMI Asphalt; Miracle Farms Landscape Contractors; Atkinson Carpet, That’s Great News; HCP Designs; Island Water Sports; 139 Designs and Stud Boy traction products. Without these companies, daSilva Racing would not be the healthy organization it is today.
