The World Snowmobile Association (WSA), the sanctioning body for the Snocross Worldwide Championship and many regional series, has officially changed its name to World PowerSports Association to reflect the company’s expanded vision. The 2005/2006 Snocross season will be run under the new acronym WPSA and the company envisions sanctioning other powersports events in 2006.
“We have been developing our business model for quite some time and it became obvious that we need to apply our talents year round to grow the company,” said CEO, Scott O’Malley. “The original WSA, Inc. corporation has also undergone a simple restructuring, changing its name to PowerSports Entertainment, Inc. which now owns and operates the revamped WPSA,” O’Malley said.
“We have an opportunity to strengthen snocross and snowmobiling in general as well as apply our vast experience to other powersports such as ATV racing. The updated sanctioning brand is just a logical step in that direction. Our new corporate name highlights the direction of the company and its bright future,” said Joe Duncan, President.
O’Malley told us that new ownership opportunities are available as well. While the organization is not for sale, O’Malley and Duncan are inviting other private investors to own a portion of the new, larger company.
