Ski-Doo Announces Additional Upgrades For 2019 Snowmobiles

Even a polished final product can use a tweak or two.

Always seeking new improvements, Ski-Doo has announced additional upgrades to select 2019 snowmobiles in its fleet soon arriving at dealerships.

Perhaps the most easily noticeable change will be the addition of an air intake vent on the left side panel for all Summit, Freeride, MX Z, Backcountry and most Renegade models (excluding the Renegade Enduro).

The move is the result of an improvement made for additional CVT system cooling. Behind the side panel the upgrades created additional ducting and a new belt guard that directs air for cooling from the intake vent to the secondary pulley – essentially an intake cooling vent.

Additional specific improvements have also been made to each model based on expected use, which include combinations of new engine mounts (mountain or trail use), a finned secondary pulley, new pulley calibrations and the additional intake ducting mentioned above.

An investigation of 2018 sleds that experienced premature belt failure identified the issue was localized in very specific conditions (altitude, snow conditions and riding styles) and related to engine movement, plus clutch clamping force; it’s believed that the new mounts along with an updated CVT calibration will resolve these issues for the upcoming season.

Customers with REV Gen4 snowmobiles that experienced premature belt failure, are encouraged to consult their local dealership, where issues can be resolved.
