Ready For The 2017 Snowmobiles? Rumor Season Is Here!

News on the 2017 snowmobiles from Arctic Cat, Polaris, Ski-Doo and Yamaha will soon be unveiled. In fact, within the next two weeks snowmobilers like you will be inundated with information on a new fleet of snowmobiles from each factory.

There will also be plenty of interesting ways that those same manufacturers and their dealers are going to try to get you and other riders to part with a down payment and a signed contract in the spring. Special colors? Special financing? Special riding gear? Special shocks? Exclusive features? Hey, maybe you can get some of each?! Just sign here, here and right here.

So far, all that has been released are a bunch of teases. Here (directly below) is a tease that is being leaked by BRP about their 2017 Ski-Doo lineup.

Monday night, you’ll be able to come here and read “the rest of the story,” as the late, great radio host Paul Harvey used to say at the end of his shows. Yamaha has also been teasing its new products with the release of two videos showing flashes of something doing something. See the teases below.

Now, we’re going to let you in on a poorly kept secret – we and the other members of the snowmobile media already know what’s under the photoshopped layer in the Ski-Doo promotion and what’s zooming past the camera in the Yamaha video. The manufacturer officials make us sign big, scary, multi-page documents saying we won’t release any of their information until a specific moment, and if we release any information even a few minutes early they will get us fired, own our houses and sleep with our wives… or something like that. But that gets to a spazzy little game that some competitors like to play. “Golly gee, this is what WE think is coming out,” some of them will fake-speculate (again, because they already know the information). Then, when the real information comes out, they can either act really smart or really surprised. (It reminds me of Christmas 1980, when I found the video game system my parents were getting me three weeks before Christmas, and then had to conjure up a shocked look when I opened the present on December 25.)  intelivision

Either way, there’s a lot of misinformation flying around out there right now on social media and message boards, along with a few (but only a few) pretty darn good guesses. It’ll all become much more clear in the next 10 days.

Until then, enjoy the rumor season!
