Snow Goer Live: Repping & Protecting Our Sport In D.C.
Washington D.C. has often been described as a “swamp” for various reasons, yet at the same time it is one of the most important seats of power in the world. Therefore, a group of snowmobiling leaders from across the U.S. recently strapped on their proverbial waders and nobly slogged their way into the U.S. Capitol, where they represented and protected the sport we all love.
We’re talking about the 25th annual American Council of Snowmobile Association (ACSA) Washington D.C. Fly In. Efforts and relationships made there at the annual visit to D.C. by grassroots leaders from multiple states helps:
- Secure funding for snowmobile trails,
- Maintain access to riding areas,
- Educate lawmakers, their staff and various bureaucrats about our sport so they know the truth about snowmobiling,
- And much, much more.
It is arguably one of the most important snowmobiling weeks of the year… yet it occurs long after the snow has melted in the vast majority of the country.
That was the topic of the May 13th special, mid-day edition of Snow Goer Live. It was broadcast live on the Snow Goer YouTube and Facebook channels and also embedded in this story below. The video can be watched anytime on our YouTube forever, and will be on the Snow Goer Facebook page for the next 30 days.
We were joined live by Christine Jourdain, the executive director of the American Council of Snowmobile Associations, plus Jaret Smith, the relatively new president of the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association. Each shared details on why the Fly In is important, what was accomplished, and the challenges still facing our sport. Enjoy.
