A few days after Yamaha rolled out its line of 2014 snowmobiles that includes an assortment of SR Viper models that will be built on the Arctic Cat ProCross chassis, Arctic Cat unveiled its own lineup of 2014 snowmobiles — with some of them featuring a Yamaha engine. While the two snowmobile companies have entered into an agreement to share engine and chassis designs, each company will continue to offer models with exclusive designs and technology.
New for Arctic Cat in 2014 is a 600cc, direct injected two-stroke engine that will be available in one 2014 Arctic Cat snowmobile: the ZR 6000 El Tigre. Called CTEC-2 technology, the engine’s low-pressure fuel system was designed to offer better fuel economy and produce fewer emissions.
