Arctic Cat unveiled the 2015 ZR 6000 R XC last weekend at Haydays. It’s similar to the 2015 ZR 6000 RR that is part of the company’s regular production lineup, but there are a few key differences. The new model, specially built for the USXC Winnipeg-to-Willmar I-500 cross-country race that will take place in February, will be available on a limited basis to consumers through Arctic Cat dealers, but it will also be available to Team Arctic racers – so if you want one, you’d better hurry.
Both the 2015 Arctic Cat ZR 6000 R XC and 2015 ZR 6000 RR have the Arctic Cat-built C-TEC2 600cc engine with semi-direct, electronic fuel injection and electronic oil pump. They utilize the same ProCross chassis, but the 2015 ZR 6000 R XC adds a few cross-country racing features for more durability and improved Performance. This list shows their differences.

- Additional tunnel brace around the lower chaincase for increased strength
- New outer rear suspension brackets for increased strength
- Front bulkhead, front spars and rear spars use 10 mm mounting bolts for increased strength (the production RR uses 8 mm fasteners like other ProCross models)
- 43.5-inch ski stance (RR models have a 42-inch stance)
- 5-Inch Trail ski allows Arctic Cat to maintain required 48-inch overall vehicle width (2015 ZR 6000 RR comes with 6-inch trail ski)

Race-style spindle and ski damper adds pressure to the rear of the ski for improved handling
- Larger diameter tie rods (same as 2014 ZR 6000 R race models) for increased strength
- Fox FLOAT Evol RC ski shocks with adjustable compression and rebound damping. Overall shock length is different than the RR’s front shocks in order to adapt to wider ski stance
- Cross-country race valve specification is “a little stiffer” than the current RR package, according to a release from Arctic Cat
- Stationary clutch guard with spare belt mount. Addition of spare belt mounting on clutch guard is not available on RR models (2015 ZR 6000 RR models include spare belt bag mounted to the tunnel)
- TEAM Industries TSS-04 secondary clutch with race jackshaft. This is the same setup as was used on the 2014 and prior ZR 6000 XC race sled (RR models come with the Arctic roller driven clutch)
- Revised cross-country drive clutch calibration gives “a little more aggressive punch” when stepping into the throttle, according to a release from Arctic Cat
- Offset ski spacers for adjustable ski stance. These provide more ski spacing options for ice racing applications
- 2.86-pitch, 8-tooth driveshaft for more ground clearance (RR comes with 2.86-pitch, 9-tooth driveshaft)
- 15 x 129 x 1.25-inch Cobra track (RR comes with 1.25-inch RipSaw track)
- Torque Overload Sensing (TOS) bottom chain sprocket to eliminate spike loads into the drivetrain. This is the same sprocket as the 2014 Arctic Cat XC racer
- 23/40 gearing, a change for 8-tooth track drive. (RR comes with standard 48-tooth bottom sprocket and 22/48 gearing)
- Race brake caliper and pads for improved wear and increased stopping power. This is the same brake caliper as the 2014 Arctic Cat XC racer. It has larger bolts for increased stiffness, low-pressure seals for less resistance when the lever is pulled and offset friction material on pads for increased braking power at elevated brake temperatures and more even wear under high pressure. (RR has the standard caliper with 2014 race friction pad material)
- High-grip seat cover for more grip
- Longer front torque arm (2 inches) for better handling
- New rail profile to match the front arm travel and 8-tooth driver diameter for better track/driver/rail interface
- Fox 1.5 Zero C compression adjustable center track shock. Cross-country race valve specification is “a little stiffer” than the RR package, according to a release from Arctic Cat
- Fox 2.0 Zero RC rebound and compression adjustable rear shock. Cross-country race valve specification is “a little stiffer” than the RR package, according to a release from Arctic Cat
- 7-position rear coupling adjustment (RR has 4-position coupling)
- New rail cap for improved durability
- Revised rear axle adjuster blocks for more durability
- Race-proven rear axle and adjustment, 4-wheel kits available (RR comes with Tri-Hub rear axle)
- 11.7-gallon clear gas tank (RR comes with black tank)
- Lightweight Torque Control Link (TCL) with 4-bolt driven hub engine mount to maintain clutch alignment (RR uses an extruded TCL with 6-bolt hub)
