2027 Arctic Cat El Tigré 858 146—Premium Trail Performance Reimagined

The 2027 Arctic Cat El Tigré 858 returns as one of the most compelling premium trail snowmobiles on the market—a machine that blends powerful performance, thoughtful engineering, modern technology, and rider-focused refinement. Positioned at the top of Arctic Cat’s trail lineup, the El Tigré continues a storied nameplate while introducing several exciting updates for the new model year that elevate both capability and ride experience.

A Modern Trail Sled with a Heritage Name

The EXT Special, which debuted last year, has undergone a variety of upgrades for 2027, one of which being the name. Arctic Cat has revitalized the classic name El Tigré in its 2027 lineup, a return to its roots that embraces contemporary performance standards. The El Tigré model is purpose-built for riders who want strong acceleration, precise handling, and premium features wrapped into a trail-ready chassis with modern style and functionality.

Engine and Performance

At the heart of the El Tigré sits the high-output 858cc C-TEC2 twin-cylinder EFI engine, which has seen several upgrades since the engine debuted in 2025 with the Catalyst platform. In 2026 it saw changes to the mounting as well as torque control link to reduce vibration felt throughout the chassis.

For the 2027 model, updates include revised exhaust valves, a new airbox, refinements to fuel mapping, and swapping to a lighter ring gear as used in the 600 version of this engine.

This liquid-cooled two-stroke powerplant delivers responsive throttle control and plenty of torque across the RPM range. For many riders, this engine represents an ideal balance of strong acceleration, trail-oriented power, and confidence-inspiring performance—whether cruising groomers or exiting turns with authority.

Next-Generation Suspension: Cross-Action II

One of the most impactful enhancements for 2027 on the El Tigré 146, and all 146-inch trail or crossover models, is the all-new Cross-Action II rear suspension. This uncoupled design lifts the rear wheel and rail section into an optimized position, providing improved float and bump absorption, thanks to independent movement of the suspension’s front and rear segments.

The 146 with Cross-Action II typically corners better than a 137 equipped with Slide-Action because the uncoupled suspension keeps the track more evenly loaded through turns and helps maintain consistent traction.

This innovative design gives the El Tigré 858 146 handling characteristics that are precise on groomed trails and forgiving when the terrain gets rougher. This is a combination many riders seek in today’s versatile sleds.

Arrowhead Track: Traction and Control

Also new for the 2027 El Tigré is the Arrowhead track, a significant evolution in track technology. With pre-studded, strategically angled lugs, the Arrowhead design boosts traction for acceleration and corner exits, braking grip on hardpack and icy surfaces, and snow bite under load for predictable engagement. This track is optimized with an aggressive attack angle and rugged lug geometry that help the sled cling to the trail, increasing confidence for spirited riding or long days in mixed trail conditions.

The 146-inch length of the track offers a balanced combination of stability at speed and agility through bends, making it ideal for riders who want a sled that performs across a wide range of trail environments. The Arrowhead track is also available in the 137-inch version paired with the Slide-Action rear suspension.

Premium Suspension and Steering Hardware

The El Tigré’s front and rear suspension systems are designed for both comfort and performance. Here are a few features of this system.

ATAC-4 adjustable shocks with Fox iQS technology are electronically controllable, handlebar-adjustable shocks that let riders fine-tune damping response in multiple positions, adapting quickly to changing trail conditions. C&A Pro XPT skis are precision-engineered to help sharpen steering feel and responsiveness, promoting confidence on both groomed and broken-trail surfaces. Electronic Power Steering (EPS) is standard across the lineup. EPS reduces bar feedback and rider fatigue, particularly useful on long rides or in variable snowfall conditions.

Together, this hardware suite creates a sled that feels planted and controlled at speed while remaining comfortable and predictable for a wide range of trail experiences.

Modern Dashboard and Ergonomics

Inside the cockpit, the El Tigré features a G8 digital display, offering clear, intuitive readouts such as speed, engine data, diagnostics, and ride modes. The touch screen is glove-friendly, so no need to remove your gloves to use the display. The display also supports trail navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. Positioned for easy visibility, this screen represents Arctic Cat’s latest approach to combining traditional ruggedness with modern interface design.

Ergonomics reflect rider comfort for extended trail miles, with a seating position that balances control and comfort, complemented by thoughtfully placed controls and grip surfaces. Then of course you have the hand and thumb warmers which come standard on most machines these days. Overall, the El Tigré focuses on performance, yet includes thoughtful comfort aids to make the trail riding experience more enjoyable.

Exclusive Special Edition

Arctic Cat also offers riders the ability to personalize their El Tigré with special-edition color options. During the Spring Guarantee event (ends 3/23/2026) a limited “White Tiger” edition in striking Whiteout coloration is available on select models, including 137 and 146 versions, adding visual flair to the sled’s full feature set.

This variant carries all the performance and suspension features of the standard El Tigré while delivering a unique aesthetic for riders who want a standout presence on the trail.

You can order yours now through March 23, 2026.

Where It Fits in the Lineup

The El Tigré 858 146 sits above Arctic Cat’s more basic trail models like the Jag and standard ZR, offering a premium performance experience. For riders seeking an all-around premium trail sled with enhanced technology, cornering precision, and a high-end feature set. The El Tigré represents one of the brand’s best choices.
