Taiga Introduces Next-Generation Electric Snowmobiles for 2027
Electric powersports manufacturer Taiga Motors has unveiled its model year 2027 electric snowmobile lineup, expanding its Nomad platform with three new models: the Nomad Pro, Nomad Performance, and Nomad Scout.
The updated machines are built on what Taiga calls a “software-defined platform,” combining higher power output, faster charging, and new connectivity features designed for both recreational riders and commercial fleets.
According to the company, the 2027 lineup represents the next step in bringing electric technology to the snowmobile market, an area that has traditionally lagged behind on-road EV adoption.

New Power, Faster Charging
Two of the new models, the Nomad Performance and Nomad Scout, deliver a peak output of 120 kW, a 33% increase over the previous generation. Taiga says the added power improves acceleration and hauling capability while maintaining performance in cold conditions.
The machines also use a redesigned battery and updated thermal management system intended to maintain consistent performance in temperatures down to -30°C while minimizing range loss.
Charging is handled through the industry-standard Combined Charging System (CCS), the same fast-charging format used in most modern electric vehicles. With compatible chargers, Taiga says the battery can recharge to 80% capacity in about 20 minutes.

A Snowmobile That Can Power Other Equipment
One of the more unusual additions to the 2027 Nomad platform is an onboard power system capable of supplying up to 3 kW of electricity through both 120-volt and 220-volt outlets.
Taiga says the feature allows the snowmobile to function as a portable power source for remote operations, including powering cabins during outages, supporting search-and-rescue operations, or running equipment at backcountry work sites.
The company says the concept expands the traditional role of a snowmobile, particularly for professional users working in remote winter environments.
Built-In Connectivity and Fleet Control
The new Nomad platform also introduces several software-based features not commonly found in snowmobiles. These include built-in geofencing that allows operators to restrict where machines can travel, remote speed-limiting capabilities, and digital keys that enable or restrict rider access through a mobile app. Fleet managers can also monitor machines remotely and adjust operating parameters.
Taiga says the technology is aimed primarily at commercial users such as ski resorts, tour operators, and government fleets, which often manage multiple machines across large areas.

Three Models for Different Uses
The 2027 Taiga lineup consists of three configurations built on the same electric platform.
The Nomad Pro is designed primarily for commercial use, including ski patrol, rental fleets, and utility work. It produces 60 kW and features increased regenerative braking intended to reduce wear on mechanical brakes during mountain operations. Fleet management tools such as geofencing and remote speed control come standard.
The Nomad Performance is the most powerful utility-focused model in the lineup. Its 120-kW drive system is designed to deliver both strong towing capability and quick acceleration. Optional performance-oriented suspension upgrades are available for riders looking for a more aggressive feel.
Built with backcountry riders in mind, the Nomad Scout features the same 120-kW power output along with a deeper 2-inch lug track, revised rear suspension, and a narrower stance aimed at improving maneuverability in deeper snow. The model also includes an integrated ski and snowboard mounting system.
Real-World Testing
Taiga says the new platform is based on several years of real-world testing, including more than one million kilometers of combined operation across roughly 1,000 vehicles in North America and Europe. The machines have also been used in more than 150 commercial operations, including deployments at ski resorts and research stations in extremely cold environments.
Pre-orders for the 2027 Nomad lineup opened March 11, 2026. U.S. pricing starts at $19,499 for the Nomad Pro, $21,999 for the Nomad Performance, and $22,249 for the Nomad Scout.
Taiga says the machines are aimed at both recreational riders and commercial users looking for quieter, lower-maintenance alternatives to traditional gas-powered snowmobiles.

Yes. Electric is very intriguing and it would seem that pricing is somewhat competitive just a side note though I love the smell of a 2 cycle engine there are many that do not
