BRP 20th Anniversary Snowmobiles—Celebrate Race-Bred Performance with X-RS and Rave RE
For the 2027 model year, BRP is celebrating a major milestone across both its Ski-Doo and Lynx brands—20 years of race-inspired performance sleds. The anniversary honors the introduction of the Ski-Doo X-RS (Extreme Racing Special) package and the Lynx Rave RE, two machines that helped bring competition-level suspension and aggressive trail handling from the racetrack to production snowmobiles.
First introduced in 2007, the X-RS and Rave RE models were designed for riders who wanted snocross-inspired capability on everyday trails. Over the past two decades, those sleds have evolved with improved suspension technology, powerful Rotax engines, and chassis refinements while maintaining their race-ready character.
To mark the anniversary, both brands are offering special 20th Anniversary Editions for 2027.
The 2027 Lynx Rave RE 20th Anniversary Edition celebrates the model that originally introduced true competition suspension to the trail segment. The sled features retro 2007-inspired colors and graphics, along with modern performance hardware. Power comes from the new Rotax 600RR E-TEC engine, which produces more horsepower while improving oil efficiency by roughly 20 percent compared to its predecessor. The engine also introduces a sportier exhaust note and “Silent-Stop” technology that eliminates the traditional 2-stroke shutdown kick.
The same Rotax 600RR E-TEC engine also appears across Ski-Doo’s anniversary X-RS lineup, which includes special editions of the MXZ X-RS, Renegade X-RS, and Backcountry X-RS. These models feature distinctive anniversary styling that pays tribute to two decades of Ski-Doo race-bred trail performance.
Riders interested in securing one of these limited-production machines will need to place an order through BRP’s Spring Check ordering program, working with an authorized Ski-Doo or Lynx dealer during the spring reservation period. As with previous special editions, quantities are limited and typically built to order.
20th Anniversary Edition X-RS models are available only during the spring pre-order event. Order yours by March 31, 2026.
Great that Ski-Doo and Lynx (BRP) celebrated the special 20th anniversary of these iconic sleds. Should be very proud of that, great for all sledders. It moved the industry forward due to competition.
The 670 engine should have been reintroduced as it is iconic and desperately needed to compete power wise with the Polaris 650. Ski-Doo riders really want that, not start stop technology with all the extra wear on starters and engine just like it does for vehicles. Of course more revenue for Ski-Doo and dealers to sell parts that wear out.
Polaris should have celebrated the domestic twin two stroke engines (Liberty) that they introduced in 1997 in this order (1st XCR 440 cross country red rocket), 3rd XC 700 and 4th XC 600 and the 2nd Indy 700 (fantastic teal colour) for the mountains a iconic shift from triples and 230th anniversary. Obviously instead they will do a special fall release like they did for the company’s 70th anniversary celebration to drive sales at dealerships for the special sleds and regular dealer stock. It will be the iconic colours (white, red and teal) and special badging and one special accessory maybe colour bumpers or windshield or seat.
All manufacturers have to celebrate iconic sled and technology events. I am sure new (4th live) Arctic Cat will in the future likely the 2003 F7 with 140 hp, Model year 2028 will be 25th anniversary of the little 700 that beat all the competitions 800 sleds. This will be Arctic Cat’s snow check special tribute sled next year so Polaris should reintroduce the 700 and Ski-Doo either the 670 or 700.
Congratulations Ski-Doo you are doing it right hopefully the other brands will follow suit like they have historically / traditionally done in the past.
Lets bring the sport back to its historic growth rate where sled production doubled every year (eg. 1668-1970 cumulating to 600,000 sleds sold in 1970) and forecasted to be 1,000,000 sled sales annually, vs ~90,000 today.
