2027 Ski-Doo Freeride—Engineered to Send It

Where deep snow performance meets freestyle adrenaline, the 2027 Ski-Doo Freeride stands apart as Ski-Doo’s answer for riders who chase the steepest lines, biggest hits, and deepest powder. Designed around a freeride-centric philosophy rather than traditional mountain or deep-snow touring roles, the Freeride blends raw Rotax 2-stroke power with a chassis and suspension package built to handle extreme terrain. Whether boosting off cliff bands, slashing open bowls, or threading tight tree lines, the Freeride is engineered to reward bold inputs with controlled, predictable behavior.

Deep-Snow DNA

The 2027 Freeride is built on Ski-Doo’s REV Gen5 platform, a foundation designed for a balance of lightweight agility and robust strength necessary for deep snow and freeride maneuvers. By shortening the tunnel and heat exchanger, Ski-Doo engineers trimmed weight to improve lift in fresh powder without compromising structural integrity.

Unlike many deep-snow sleds that focus solely on straight-line flotation, the Freeride marries its long-track capability with a chassis tuned for aggressive rider input. Its narrow ski stance and deep-snow focused components encourage nimble handling when climbing steeps or carving tight transitions. Optionally equipped with PowderMax or PowderMax X-Light tracks in sizes from 146 to 154 inches, riders can dial in the float and response that best suits their preferred terrain and riding style.

The lineup offers multiple configurations, including naturally aspirated and turbocharged powerplants, letting riders choose between potent all-around power or boosted performance at altitude. Regardless of variant, every Freeride delivers a commanding presence in technical terrain and big-mountain environments.

Power That Pulls You Vertical

Powering the 2027 Freeride is Ski-Doo’s proven family of Rotax 850 E-TEC engines, available in both naturally aspirated and Turbo R configurations. These liquid-cooled, 2-stroke engines leverage direct sequential fuel injection for instant throttle response and broad torque delivery.

At the heart of performance is the engine’s eRAVE variable exhaust valve system, which adjusts exhaust timing electronically for optimized power throughout the rev range. On turbocharged models, a precise turbocharger further amplifies mid-range and high-rpm output, enabling riders to maintain momentum even in thin air.

Both engine variants are paired with Ski-Doo’s pDrive primary clutch and QRS Vent Plus secondary clutch system, designed to deliver smooth engagement and responsive belt control. The Freeride’s drivetrain translates the engine’s output into controlled forward motion without hesitation or lag.

Starting is handled by the E-TEC SHOT starter, a unique Ski-Doo feature that combines an ultracapacitor with a push-button system for weight savings and near-instant restarts.

Built to Take a Beating

The backbone of the Freeride’s technical capability is its chassis, optimized for deep-snow balance and agility. Compact and narrow, the frame promotes precision steering and confident control in dynamic conditions.

Up front, RAS 3 suspension arms paired with KYB PRO 40 EA-3 shocks offer 8.5 inches of travel. The rear suspension is a tMotion L/O (lock-out) with coil-over setup, providing 10.6 inches of travel.

These longer travel components help the sled maintain traction and stability across varied snowpack densities. This allows the Freeride to stay composed during aggressive directional changes, big jumps, or sustained climbs, instilling confidence in riders pushing beyond conventional deep-snow boundaries.

Control in Every Movement

Ski-Doo designed the Freeride to keep the rider in command, blending ergonomic considerations with premium features. The seating and handlebar package places the rider in a forward-leaning stance ideal for dynamic weight shifts, crucial for cliff drops, punchy climbs, or freeride jumps.

Instrumentation is anchored by a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with BRP Connect, complete with built-in GPS and Group Ride functionality. This puts navigation, riding metrics, and group tracking at your fingertips.

Additional component highlights include Premium LED headlights for increased visibility in low light, heated grips and throttle lever for cold-weather comfort, and directional Pilot DS 4 skis that balance float and precision. A short riser block enhances control when standing and maneuvering, while Brembo brakes and RER reverse add layers of functionality without excessive weight.

Where It Fits in the Lineup

The 2027 Ski-Doo Freeride sits at the top of Ski-Doo’s deep snow category. It’s engineered for riders who want a sled capable of both backcountry exploration and freeride feats, a blend of big-mountain performance and freestyle flair.

The 2027 Ski-Doo Freeride is available only as a spring order model. Order yours by March 31, 2026.

  • Purple colour is nice. Orange highlights not so much.
