Fowler Parts Buys Fett Brothers Performance

Big news from the snowmobile aftermarket, as a longstanding and respected hard parts brand is getting a new owner.

Fett Brother Performance of Frazee, Minnesota, has been purchased by Fowler Parts Service of Ogilvie, Minnesota. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The full press release from Fowler is pasted at the bottom of this story.

The deal was officially announced on September 23, but Fett Bros. owner Dale Fett and Fowler owner Matt Pfankuch stopped by the Snow Goer booth at the Hay Days Grass Drag & Swap meet on September 6 to let us know about the impending sale.

Pfankuch said the Fett Brothers Performance (FBP) name will remain in place, adding that he plans to further build-out the brand’s line of clutching components and other parts.

“Once we get everything in place, we’ll start to expand the product line to include parts for the latest generation of clutches,” Pfankuch said.

Asked why he was selling the business, the ever-personable Dale Fett quipped, “Because I’m old!” Then he said he’s been thinking of selling the business for a couple of years, but things got more serious in discussions with Pfankuch over the last six months. Fett isn’t going to completely retire, however: He’ll still run the Composit track business in the U.S., he said, and do shocks service under the new 2 Below Trading Company name.

Fett Brothers Performance was founded in 1992 by brothers Dale and Dennis Fett.

Pfankuch is a longtime powersports industry insider we first met in the 1990s. In October of 2020, he purchased the Fowler distribution business, and then he added the High Performance Engineering brand in 2023.

He said he’s done business with Fett on one level or another for more than 25 years, adding that the business fits perfectly with his interests.

“If you would have asked me 10 years ago if I’d own a distributor [meaning Fowler], I would have told you that you were crazy,” Phankuch said. “But the plan, once I bought Fowler, was to get that up and running and then add something that was in my area of expertise, which is product development and bringing products to the industry. It all sets up really well.”

One of the other attractions, Pfankuch said, was the quality of the Fett Brothers products. “It was important to me that they featured U.S.-made, quality products, and I want to keep it that way. They have some great suppliers right here in Minnesota.”

Congratulations to Dale and Dennis. It’s been a long trail from our racing days in the 70s to today. They stuck with it the whole way.
