A quarter-century ago, the team from Snow Goer, Snow Week, Snowmobile and Snowmobile Business magazines tried its hand at the TV world with a regional snowmobile show called Snow Goer Television. Shown typically on Saturday mornings on broadcast channels in select markets, it aimed to spread the good message about snowmobiling to the masses.
Frankly, none of our staff were very good at being on-camera hosts – despite the tireless work by Rick and Deb from Dobson Video Productions to somehow make us look and sound good on TV! (Talk about putting earrings on a sow!) But we had fun and hopefully entertained a few people along the way.
Here’s a look at the first episode from the Fall 1996 season, featuring coverage some new 1997 models, a spotlight on Stanley, Idaho, a tech tip, interviews with Rode Reports guest riders and more. It even features some of the old snowmobile-related commercials from that era.
On the Youtube comments page, please tell us (1) If you enjoy seeing the old commercials included or if we should just snip them out and (2) if you’d like to see us upload the rest of that season and the following season of Snow Goer TV, for your nostalgic viewing pleasure.
Editor’s Note: Every Snow Goer issue includes in-depth sled reports and comparisons, aftermarket gear and accessories reviews, riding destination articles, do-it-yourself repair information, snowmobile technology and more.
