Arctic Cat’s New Cross-Action II Rear Suspension
For the 2027 model year, Arctic Cat introduced a new rear suspension design called Cross-Action II, aimed at improving handling and versatility on trail and crossover snowmobiles. The updated system builds on Arctic Cat’s long-running Cross-Action suspension concept but incorporates revised geometry and structural changes designed to balance cornering precision with off-trail capability.

The Technology Behind It
The key feature of the Cross-Action II suspension is its uncoupled rear suspension layout combined with a raised rear wheel and modified rail section. This configuration allows the front and rear portions of the suspension to react more independently to terrain inputs. The result is improved weight transfer, better bump absorption, and more consistent traction in varied snow conditions.
One of the most noticeable design changes is the elevated rear wheel in the skid frame. By lifting this wheel slightly, Arctic Cat altered the suspension geometry to help the sled corner more like a short-track machine even when using longer crossover-style tracks. At the same time, the design still allows the sled to float better in deeper snow and bridge trail bumps more effectively, giving riders a broader performance range between groomed trails and off-trail riding.
The suspension also incorporates features such as torque-sensing linkages, adjustable torsion springs, and a multi-wheel rear axle assembly to maintain track contact and stability while improving ride comfort. These elements work together to keep the track planted under acceleration while maintaining smooth suspension travel over rough terrain.

What Models Get It
The Cross-Action II suspension debuts primarily on 146-inch trail and crossover snowmobiles in the 2027 Arctic Cat lineup. Several high-profile models now feature the system, including:
- El Tigre 146 trail models
- XF crossover lineup (including XF 600 Sno Pro and XF 858)
- ZR performance trail models with 146-inch track options
- Thundercat models equipped with the 146-inch crossover setup
