Goodwin Performance Acquired By Wisconsin-Based Toolamation

The venerable Goodwin Performance snowmobile aftermarket performance shop announced on April 2 that it is being acquired by Wisconsin-based Toolamation. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to the press release, Goodwin Performance will continue to make, sell and distribute snowmobile components, but the founders are moving a half-step away from the business. Former Eagle River World Champion Greg Goodwin will serve in a consulting role, while Kurt Krumm is starting his own business that will serve as a vendor to the new company.

The Goodwin business will also move from its longtime location in Zion, Illinois, to the Toolamation facility in Kenosha, Wisconsin. WIth the change of state, that might sound like a big move, but it’s truly just 8 miles to the northeast.

Toolamation is a CNC machine shop that’s been around since 1968. A quick view of their website shows all sorts of aluminum components that the company creates for other companies.

The Goodwin Brothers Racing family team was inducted into the competition-focused Snowmobile Hall of Fame in 2019. Here’s the full press release about the transaction from the companies (below).

  • This makes sense because the state of Illinois has taxed it’s way out, with Wisconsin being so much more business friendly.
