The Nytro is Yamaha’s mid-priced, mid-size engine choice in the performance class. Like the Apex RTX and the Attak GT, it’s positioned in Yamaha’s “rough trail performance” segment.

The Nytro comes set in the Deltabox chassis. It has a performance look with a tall seat and handlebars, a short windshield and handguards. It has aggressive clutch calibrations, low gearing and a 15- by 121- by 1.25-inch Camoplast Rip Saw track.

The only difference between the standard and ER versions is the addition of reverse on the ER. Both machines use electric start.

With the exception of a new snowflap and graphics, the Nytros have not changed significantly from 2006.

The rear shock is compression-adjustable through a clicker, and the front FLOAT shocks use a hand air pump to change its spring rates.


Genesis 120

Yamaha’s 3-year-old 973cc, 120 hp four-stroke graces the Nytro. It has three cylinders and Keihin carbs. It’s designed with a high, broad torque curve for quick acceleration.
