WEST GLOVER, Vermont (Feb. 28, 2021) — Veteran snowmobile racers Matt Cameron and Heath Bell split the Pro finals in Vermont this weekend, as Rock Maple Racing (RMR) completed Round 3 of its 2021 Cross Country snowmobile racing schedule on Saturday at Young View Farms.

Cameron, of Palmerton, Pennsylvania, powered his Arctic Cat to victory in Pro Open over Bell and Oswego, New York’s Kenny Murphy. Despite limited visibility from mixed precipitation that fell all day long, Cameron held a 45-second advantage over Bell as he crossed the stripe after five laps.

Bell, of New Gloucester, Maine, capped a solid day on his Ski-Doo by outgunning Cameron in Pro Stock. In a grueling, 12-lap battle, Bell carried an impressive 18-second margin of victory to the line, while Murphy capped a strong outing with another podium finish.

In Semi-Pro action, local favorite Brock Young made it a clean sweep in his own backyard. The skilled athlete and proud West Glover native held off Ski-Doo riders Todd Smith (Derry, N.H.) and Aaron Shelton (Walton, NY) for top honors in Semi-Pro Improved. In the Stock class, Young outran Shelton and Pownal, Maine’s Bailey Slocum for top honors.

Hyde Park, Vermont based rider Mike Young was dialed in for RMR Sport class battles in West Glover. Young outgunned Alex Zwicki and Tyler Messervy to claim Sport Open, while Vermonters Zwicki (Fairfax) and Brian Barrows (Middlebury) finished second and third in Sport Stock 600.

Other final round winners on Saturday in West Glover include Scott Preston (Pro Am Plus 40 and Plus 30); Travis Brisbin (Woody’s SOO); Ian Smith (Sport 85, Jr. 14-17); Lee Herchenroder (Trail 600); Zach Prive (Trail 800); Rene Desrochers (Masters); Brian Caron (Plus 40); Mandy Preston (Voss Signs Women); Teegan Charland (200cc Stock); Cameron Bell (Jr. 10-13); Bryden Perry (120 Stock); Evan Folsom (120 Improved and 120 Champ).
