Gould, Colorado – March 16, 2009

Warm weather in the Colorado Rockies didn’t stop Xtreme Mountain Racing from hosting a snocross double header in Gould over the last full weekend of February and the first weekend of March this year. Colorado Powersports and The Northpark Snow Snakes sponsored these events, and spectators and riders alike had a lot of fun in the high mountains of Northern Colorado. The track was a mix of tough terrain with a whoop section that separated the front runners from the pack.

The Semi-Pro races were tough competition with Eric Potter taking the win the first weekend on his Felker Ski-Doo. Zach Acord on his Cat beat out Potter in the second weekend. In the Sport classes Shad Peterson and Mike DePalma both had victories in the Sport I and Sport II classes, with Dylon Moss and Allen Ratkowski not far behind. Michelle Stoffle took both wins in sport women but Darla Murphy put up a good fight and took second in both events. Eric Potter continued his domination in the Masters 35+ class, while Mark Donner tried to overtake him. The younger classes kept the days going, and while the technical track kept the adults on their toes (and some off their sleds) the juniors all rode well.

In the oldest Juniors Classes, the 16-17 and the 14-17 Xtreme Challenge, Dylon Moss and newcomer Wesley Chapman traded paint and wins in the four events spread over two weekends. They really put on a great show with Moss taking the last 14-17 Xtreme main in the last turn of the white flag lap. Chapman, Michelle Stoffle and Dillon Thomas all stayed on the podium in the Junior 14-15 event, and in the 10-13 event AJ Stoffle dominated both weekends with Jarret Green not far behind. Jarret and his brother Kyler are positioning to win the 7-10 classes for the season going one and two in both weekends’ events in Gould. In the 120 classes Logan Montgomery is keeping up his winning streak with Cameron Thomas and Korttney Potter consistently staying in second and third positions. With one race left for the XMR season the points races are shaping up and there are bound to be a few last battles at the season finale.
