I’m not going to talk here about social issues like Marvin Gaye did in his song “What’s Going On,” instead, here’s an update on the happenings at Snow Goer.
While it’s the off-season for most snowmobilers, the Snow Goer staff has the lever pressed to the handlebar putting together our Season Premier issue of the 2011-12 season. We’re really excited about this first magazine because it has a lot of cool content about new sleds, destinations, technology and products, and it’s going to be presented in a new format. That’s right, we’ve re-designed Snow Goer to give it a different look, make it easier to read and to make better use of the pages. It’ll be in mailboxes next month!
Last night I helped my neighbor install a new track in his buddy’s Polaris 700 XC. The story goes that Justin borrowed the sled and was running wide open across a lake a few months ago when the original rubber shoe let go. Fortunately he was able to bring the sled to a stop without crashing. I helped him round up a used track this spring and we finally found time last night to install it. The sled has a few other problems — broken bogey wheels, noisy wheel bearings, cracked front torque arm, loose exhaust system — but it’s not far from being a good trail sled once again. I love those early domestic twin engines from Polaris!
We’re rocking out, too. I attended an excellent concert Wednesday night in St. Paul, Minnesota. The band A Perfect Circle played at sold-out Roy Wilkins Auditorium, which is connected to the Xcel Energy Center where Britney Spears simultaneously played to a paltry crowd of 9,000 people — my how that pop princess has fallen. The five-piece band I watched was tight and precise, perfectly ripping its intricate, melodic hard rock for about 5,000 appreciative fans. It was one of the best shows I’ve seen in a while, but I had to be careful not to breathe too deeply. Clean livin’ ya know…
The 4th of July was just a few days ago, but do you believe that Haydays is only eight weeks away!? Where are you going to park?
