40. If you break a tie rod or tie-rod end, keep the skis parallel with a 1- to 2-inch diameter stick. Lay the stick across the ski hoops and tie or duct tape the stick to the ski loops in a crisscross pattern. This will allow you drive the sled out of the woods or off the mountain.
