The rumors have been floating around for awhile, but now it’s been made official: The previously Arctic Cat-focused performance shop most associated with Tucker Hibbert’s racing success and the Black Cats mountain program is spreading its wings beyond its primary snowmobile brand.
Forest Lake, Minnesota-based Speedwerx will have performance products for Polaris and Ski-Doo snowmobiles for this coming winter.
Founded by Hall Of Fame snowmobile racer Steve Houle back in 1999 as an offshoot of his previously Polaris-focused Hot Seat Performance brand, Speedwerx immediately grew into a powerhouse brand for Arctic Cat snowmobile racers and performance riders alike. And, while the business expanded into some offroad and automotive racing sidelights, in snowmobiling it stayed strongly dedicated to the Arctic Cat brand and riders, until now.
Following the release of the official press release that is posted below, Speedwerx announced that its Hypershift clutching products as well as its ProCharger Super Charger kits would be available for Arctic Cat, Polaris and Ski-Doo engine packages.
With ongoing rumors about Arctic Cat’s future in racing and performance riding continuing to swirl, despite Cat’s last-June statement that it will continue to support racing, the move by Speedwerx to expand beyond the brand with which it built its reputation is sure to stir the waters.
Here’s the primary press release announcing the change from Speedwerx:
