Klim Plans To Host Avalanche Safety Courses At Hay Days

The Klim brand has announced that it will be hosting avalanche safety seminars at the big Hay Days swap meet and grass drag event in Minnesota this September, featuring some of its top sponsored athletes. You’ll have to register ahead of time, though, to guarantee yourself a spot.

Here’s the press release from Klim:

KLIM TO HOST AVALANCHE SAFETY RESOURCES AT HAY DAYS

Klim will be hosting a series of avalanche safety resources on behalf of Avalanche Alliance at the Hay Days event in Minnesota on Sept. 11-12, 2021, and signups for presentations have opened. Resources will include avalanche equipment information, forecast breakdowns, training signups, gear presentations by Chris Burandt, and Intro to Avalanche Safety presentations taught by Matt Entz from Mountain Skillz and Dan Adams from Next Level Riding Clinics.

Attendance for each presentation is limited to 100 and online registrants from both days will be entered to win one of three head-to-toe KLIM gear kits. KLIM will be at booth number FF1-FF2.

Entz and Adams, both Klim snowmobile athletes, will teach two 90-minute classes on Saturday, Sept. 11, one at 9:30 a.m. and one at 2:00 p.m. These intro classes will be opportunities to learn about proper training and help prepare riders for the upcoming winter season.

Entz and Adams will present about the dangers of avalanches, the importance of proper training and will discuss backcountry safety. The intro classes are not meant to replace true on-the-snow clinics and certifications, but they will identify key concepts and help riders understand the need for proper training.

Burandt, a KLIM snowmobile athlete, will present at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12. He will cover the details of what he carries for backcountry riding and why each piece of equipment plays a role in enjoying the sport.

A representative from the Utah Avalanche Center will help inform riders about where to find the daily avalanche forecast, how to interpret it, and why it’s critical to understand the forecast and make riding decisions based on it.

This is one of the ways Klim and Avalanche Alliance are helping the snowmobile community reach a higher level of avalanche awareness and safety, using funds from last year’s sled giveaway to host these classes.
