One person with deep pockets and unrivaled passion will own the very last Yamaha SRX snowmobile model ever built. The questions are (1) who will it be, and (2) how much will they ultimately pay?!
Those questions will be answered February. That’s when Yamaha will hold the official auction for the custom-crated and eminently collectable 2025 Yamaha Sidewinder SRX LE model 998.
Yamaha announced in June of 2023 that model year 2025 would be its last year in snowmobiling. Then, when unveiling that 2025 lineup in March of 2024, the company said its final production of Sidewinder SRX models would be numbered and labeled from 1 to 998 – with 998 reflecting the displacement of the powerful, turbocharged machine.
And that very last model 998 would be auctioned off for the good of the sport.
Anticipation among collectors immediately built. Then Yamaha put the cherry on top at the Hay Days Grass Drag Event in September. There, it unveiled a custom-made crate that holds the machine under glass. The front, top and sides of that crate looks like a box for a massive toy Yamaha Sidewinder SRX. The back of the crate includes a pictorial timeline of Yamaha’s 57-year history in snowmobiling.
The auction for the collectable and crated 2025 Sidewinder SRX will be held online through the Bring-A-Trailer online bidding service. But it will have an interesting live twist. Online bidding will be between February 9 and 15, 2025. But it will wrap up live at the 2025 Induction Ceremony for the racing-focused Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St. Germain, Wisconsin.

To sign up as a registered bidder, please visit https://bringatrailer.com/. See below for general rules and regulations.
- Seller cannot bid on, or coordinate bidding on, their auction.
- All bidders have a credit card on file so we can put a hold on their card for the potential buyer fee.
- If the card cannot sustain the hold, the bid does not show up in the first place.
- If the buyer backs out of the purchase at no fault of the seller or the vehicle, we do not refund the buyer’s fee, and they are banned from using BaT ever again.
- The buyer is responsible for the cost and logistics of collecting the vehicle. However, Yamaha will assist in that process. See the links below for even more information on Bring A Trailer and how it all works.

Bring A Trailer/FAQ
This is your chance to own the fastest production snowmobile ever made and a piece of history!
Very sad Yamaha is out of the sled business. They were awesome since 1968. Very nice gesture to do this. I would guess it might go for $100K.
BAT has done an excellent job with these online auctions. They are very well done, and I think very well respected. I am not sure how it will close at the HOF but that was an outstanding idea and everyone should benefit from it. The HOF Banquet is a great event with some serious, well funded potential buyers. It should be fun!
We can rule out Yamaha buying AC with this classy gesture.
Lets hope the same fate does not happen to AC.
