The exciting snowmobile oval racing season got started recently in Beausejour, Manitoba, as select racers who had their equipment ready early made the trek to one of the most historic race sites in the sport to duel it out on the high-speed track’s long straights and sweeping turns.
Two-time defending World Champion Malcolm Chartier was the man to beat in the popular Pro Champ 440 class at Beausejour, winning every time he took to the track, including both finals, on his new Houle-built Ski-Doo. Could he be the first to three-peat at Eagle River? Only time will tell.
Beausejour was just the beginning, however. Here’s a quick rundown of the modern oval races planned this winter from the Circuit Pro Tour (CPT), United States Snowmobile Association (USSA), Midwest International Racing Association (MIRA) and Oval Racers Alliance (ORA), as well as the independent, specialty races that are the Eagle River World Championship in Wisconsin, the Soo I-500 enduro race in Michigan and the two Canadian Power Toboggan Championships events in Manitoba.Click through on each name for more information.
If you’re aware of other races that should be included on this schedule, please post it in the “Comments” section at the bottom, and we’ll update the list. Photo by Rob Bye Photography.
