The joys of big-time snowmobile festivals, an update on the Decker Triple Crown, a preview of the fascinating Soo I-500 and more were among the hot topics on teh January 30th episode of Snow Goer Live. It was recorded live at 7:30 p.m. central time and broadcast on the Snow Goer YouTube and Facebook pages. It can be viewed there, and it is also shown in the player below. And because it was truly “live,” we were be able to take and reply to viewer questions and comments.

Episode 5 Snow Goer Live Guests
After an initial opening segment from host John Prusak, which will include an update on industry news and rumors, we’ were joined by the first of our two guests.
First up was Dave Sarna, a lifelong snowmobiling super-enthusiast who is now the director of the Manawa Snodeo. It’s truly one of the sport’s more extensive winter festivals, with USSA ProStar oval racing, PVR vintage racing, a radar run, a parade, chainsaw racing, car racing on ice and all sorts of family fun. And this year, it includes a round of the inspirational Decker Triple Crown series. Check out the video to learn about Sarna’s interesting history, and see how the Snodeo that he and his team put together could be a template toward reinvigorating the sport.

Next, were joined by the always interesting Chad Colby. He’s another lifelong snowmobiler – from racing to high-mile adventures to being a factory official to announcing duties and well beyond, he’s kind of done it all. And one of his biggest passions is the Soo I-500 enduro race. The 56th running of that event will be Saturday, February 1, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
We previewed the unique and interesting challenges of the exciting endurance race – which involves making 500 laps around a 1-mile oval track that changes and deteriorates over the course of the eight-hour race. We also celebrated some of the Soo’s incredible history and generally “talk shop” about snowmobiling with this well-connected insider.

We then wrapped up the show discussing more snowmobiling news, plus details on this week’s rides.
Join us live if you can in the future. But if you can’t fit it into your schedule at 7:30 p.m. central time, though, this and other episodes will continue to exist on our YouTube channel so you can catch them later.
