According to a report from Vermont Public Radio, the damage dates back to 2012, when the owner of the Hermitage Inn & Ski Club ordered some excavation work but didn’t account for soil conditions. The work caused damage to about 3 miles of trail, the report said.

The ski club owner is going to pay the roughly $50,000 in costs to completely fix the trail, plus $25,000 in fines. Click through to see the full report.
