New Red Bull Snow Boundaries Event To Test Snowmobilers’ Skills

RED BULL SNOW BOUNDARIES TO BRING ENDURANCE SNOWMOBILE RACING TO SPIRIT MOUNTAIN SKI RESORT

Multi-Discipline Endurance Race to Feature Elements of Snowcross, Hill Climbing, Cross Country and Ice Racing

DULUTH, MN (February 5, 2015) – On March 27-28, Red Bull Snow Boundaries will bring the first snowmobile event of its kind to Spirit Mountain Ski Resort in Duluth, MN.  Open to professional and amateur racers alike, the event will require competitors to be proficient in multiple snowmobiling disciplines as they navigate an aggressive 30-mile loop through various challenging terrain.  Registration is open at www.redbull.com/snowboundaries

Designed to push each rider to their limit, the event will feature a course combining the snowmobiling elements of elements of snocross, hill climbing, cross-country and ice racing.  The 30-mile loop will be broken up into three different sections, including eight miles up and down Spirit Mountain, 15 miles through the surrounding trails and forest and seven miles across the ice of the frozen St. Louis River.  The technical terrain will incorporate various obstacles for riders to navigate, including water skips, log crosses, rock chutes, bridge crossings, tire piles and vertical climbs.

The two-day event will hold qualifying time trials on Friday and the finals on Saturday, broken up into the following classes: Pro Racer 600, Open 600, Ditchbanger 600, Women’s 600 and Legends 600 (40+).  Friday’s qualifiers will be held on a shorter, 2-mile course, with the top athletes from each class advancing to the finals on Saturday.  In the finals, the Racer 600 class will race 8-10 laps of the 30 mile loop, while all other classes will race 2-3 laps.  All classes will compete side by side in the finals, started within their respective heats.

“This is the sort of crazy, crisscrossed and challenging run that snowmobilers dream of riding,” said Levi LaVallee.  “With over 400 miles of Northern Minnesota glory to work with, it was a dream come true to use every inch to create the most badass route I’ve ever seen.”

Spectators can cheer riders on from the main chalet at Spirit Mountain. For fans who want to watch the riders tackle obstacles and cross the finish line finish line can do so at the Spirit Mountain Moosehead Lodge or watch from outside patios on Friday and Saturday. For those who want to compete, registration is $100 per rider before March 1. It will be $125 per rider from March 1 until registration closes on March 13.
