You may be seeing even more of those sharp-looking customized Prinoth groomers smoothing snowmobile trails in the future, thanks to a big investment by the parent company of the Quebec factory.
Prinoth recently announced plans to double production capacity at its Granby, Quebec, factory, via a $25 million investment.
Before we get to the press release, a quick history lesson: Prinoth has been building snow grooming equipment in Europe since 1964. However, the company became significantly more prominent in the minds of North American snowmobilers after it purchased the Bombardier groomer division from then-Camoplast (now known as Camso) in 2005.
Camoplast was just a temporary holder of the Bombardier groomer brand – it acquired it in December of 2004 shortly after Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) was spun off of the larger Bombardier Inc. in 2003. Camoplast then sold it to Prinoth 11 months later.
