After a thrilling day of qualifying races at the famed Derby Track in unseasonably warm, humid and sometimes downright rainy conditions, the front row is now for the 54th annual World Championship race in Eagle River, Wisconsin, and it’s bound to be a doozy.
Ten drivers from a variety of backgrounds used the Derby’s unique qualifying process to earn their spot, and each driver has a strong sled — there are no slouches in the field this year, that’s for sure!
Going into the final, 2015 champion Cardell Potter is the favorite, on his interesting looking Pro Champ sled, but all the way down to position 10 there is speed and driver skill. Two more drivers will be added to the field Sunday at 1 p.m., then the run for the sport most prestigious and storied title begins at 3 p.m. The winner of the race will have their name etched into history, and inscribed on the Snow Goer Cup traveling trophy.
