The memories of an iconic snowmobile racing couple will be honored this winter with a special ice oval racing points series that’ll pump some serious dollars into one of the sport’s most grassroots classes.

The Decker Triple Crown will be a points series within the Formula 500/F-500 class at five events that are split between three venues. Racers will accumulate points based on their appearance and performance at the events. The series payout includes $17,000 in total prize money that’ll reach 10 positions deep, with the winner getting $10,000 plus a high-end, custom engraved Henry rifle. That’s huge money for the popular F-500 class!

The Triple Crown series is named for Richard and Audrey Decker, former owners of the Derby Track in Eagle River, Decker Sno Venture tours, the Decker Race Team and several other businesses within the snowmobile market over the years. Both are inducted into both the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame and the racing-focused Snowmobile Hall of Fame.

The points series will take place at already scheduled events on the United States Snowmobile Association (USSA) and Pro Vintage Racing (PVR) circuits, including:

  • The PVR event at Ironwood, Michigan, Dec. 27-29
  • The USSA event in Ironwood, Michigan, Jan. 4-5
  • The USSA event in Wausau, Wisconsin, Dec. 25-26
  • The PVR event in Wausau, Wisconsin, Feb. 1
  • The combined USSA/PVR event at the Manawa Snodeo in Manawa, Wisconsin, February 15-16.

Richard Decker passed away in April; Audrey Decker died in 2019.
