After a long, long wait Friday evening during a special event for Ski-Doo Platinum Club members, Ski-Doo officials pulled the wraps off its 2015 MX Zx 600RS racer. There were extensive changes made to the 2014 Ski-Doo MX Zx 600RS (including a longer track and revised front suspension and steering), but the 2015 MX Zx 600RS received just a few minor updates aimed at better holeshot performance.
Crankshaft weight of the 2015 MX Zx 600RS was reduced by 1 pound to let the engine rev faster, and calibration changes to the ignition and fuel system will bring better mid-range power, Ski-Doo says. Late-season testing last year helped the Ski-Doo race shop find better running consistency through varying humidity and air temperature conditions, said Steve Cowing, Ski-Doo’s media contact. Those updates were also made to the 2015 MX Zx 600RS.
A new track was designed for better holeshot traction and less rolling resistance, and new rear suspension torsion springs are made from a different metal alloy that’s lighter and more consistent, Ski-Doo says. Shocks were revalved, tolerances in the slip gear were tightened up for better durability and the brilliant Sunburst Yellow color from the Summit X T3 models was carried over.
