How To Remove An Arctic Cat ProCross, ProClimb Drive Belt

Snow Goer staff

The easiest way to remove a ProCross/ProClimb belt is to remove the driven clutch.

Have you been stumped about how to remove the drive belt from a 2012 Arctic Cat ProCross or ProClimb snowmobile? We have, recently, and ended up using brute force to take the belt off the rear clutch of our Arctic Cat F 800 Sno Pro demo sled.

A day later we learned from a local Arctic Cat snowmobile dealership that the easiest way to take off the belt is to remove the bolt that holds the driven clutch on the jackshaft and then slide the clutch off the shaft.

This works on Arctic Cat ProCross and ProClimb snowmobiles, the dealership said, because the jackshaft stub is fairly short, so the clutch can be tilted off the shaft. The next challenge, though, is to slip the belt between the nosepan and the front clutch. It’s a tight fit. With the old belt set aside and the new belt on the drive clutch, put the belt around the driven clutch, slide it on the jackshaft and then reinstall the clutch retention bolt.
