Snowmobile Club Spotlight: Trackside Blazers

A Trackside Blazers groomer last season.

With more than 1,000 active members the Trackside Blazers of Forestport, New York, is nearly five decades old and still going strong. With a welcoming clubhouse and multiple annual events, it’s easy to be excited about being a member.

What’s the best in-season club event or activity that makes membership fun?
The club holds three major fundraising events in its groomer barn  – a steak bake in January, a community breakfast in January and a pig roast near the end of the season in February. All events are ride-in and offer a fun experience for everyone who attends.

The club is also lucky enough to have a clubhouse with flush toilets, a full kitchen and a parking lot; the doors are always open and there’s always something to eat!

What’s the best off-season club event?
The club hosts an annual golf tournament that is a blast!

What’s the best way to find new members?
We seem to have good luck recruiting new members at our fundraisers, which turn into parties that are open to the public.

There are always kids activities and a sleigh riding during our meetings and events, and there are plans in the works for a kids ride escorted by the local law enforcement.

One interesting thing the club does for the good of the sport is…
We work hand-in-hand with the local sheriffs, the fire department, the highway department and other local organizations – whether it’s an emergency call or broken down groomer one hand washes the other.

Our volunteers also groom trails that connect businesses and attractions from Alder Creek in the south to the Adirondack Park and Old Forge in the north. Trails also connect to Boonville in the west, to North Lake and trails leading to Speculator in the east. Our volunteer members work together with local businesses to make snowmobiling in the Adirondacks an enjoyable experience!
